for lack of poetry
(a Shakespearean sonnet)

THE NIGHT OF AL GORE'S PRETTY 'I-GIVE' SPEECH
I crossed paths with a venture cap'talist.
Since they like fast-talk, I peeled him this peach:
I pointed out a common thread that's missed. . .

. . . in politics and markets in this age
when ivy-plated experts run the game
(and 'West Wing' actors get one breath per page),
but still so many horses turn up lame.

Al Gore was smart, but he lacked poetry.
And California vouchers had no rhyme
(another venture cap't'list paid to see
his twenty million burned in TV time), . . .

. . . and $30 stocks have dropped to one.
BOTTOM LINE: NE: No poetry? You're done
