SUPEME LIGHT . . . AND DARK

SUPREME COURT JUSTICES work in the dark
as far as public vision is concerned.
Their herculean efforts leave no mark
upon the public mind as each day's turned.

They could be vampires: you can never tell.
We never see them working in the light
of TV cam'ras: they might work in hell.
Could we trust vampires to choose wrong from right?

In any case, that's not the job they do,
but rather divination of the law.
And when they've ruled there's nowhere else to sue.
But they must write just what -- and why -- they saw.

A PRESIDENTIAL CASE is like the sun.
If they are vampires,
			watch how fast they run.
