SOME QUESTIONS TO BE KEEP IN THE AIR:

(1.A.1) Will people subscribe to Showtime to see this?
NOTE: My cost would be $20/month + $25 installation.
I've read many web comments about someone being
interested, but unwilling to pay (e.g., $10) for Showtime.

(1.A.2) REPHRASE: 15 MARCH 3004:
What could "American Candidate" demonstrate/
provide... that would be a compelling reason to
subscribe to Showtime?

(1.B) What is the meaning of the "Showtime subset"
(of citizens) choice?

(2) If the handful of "candidates" will be chosen
by a normal "Reality TV" PROCESS, what is the
meaning of the result?

(3) What does "search" mean? {smile}

FRAGMENT ACSC.001:

"... the Commission concludes

the series is a work of fiction ..."

FRAGMENT ACSC.002:

"... American Candidate is 'commentary'

within the meaning of the Act and the regulations."

WHAT PROVES LEADERSHIP:

ANSWERING the wrong questions?

ASKING the right ones?

BOSTON GLOBE
'Candidate' is a new vote for mixing entertainment, politics
By Suzanne C. Ryan, Globe Staff, 2/1/2004

" ... While a monetary prize has not been announced,
the producers have suggested that the winner might have,
enough clout to endorse an actual candidate or, in a real
twist on reality, run for the 2004 presidency."

FRAGMENT ACSC.005:

General Election Commission Advisory Opinion Number 2003-34

CERTIFIED MAIL December 19, 2003

You assert that the contestants will not be actual candidates and
will not be "testing the waters" for a candidacy for public office.
Each potential contestant must sign a release that provides that
he or she will be automatically disqualified from participation in the
American Candidate series if the contestant becomes a candidate
or explores an actual candidacy for any public office.

26 FEB 2004 - CHANGE IN THE RULES (18 AND OVER)

FRAGMENT ACSC.006:
[RHETORICAL VERSE / HAIKU SEQUENCE]

2 MARCH 2004

The change in the rules

shifts from "present" candidates ... ... to those who will come.

But what does it mean to run future candidates through hoops of the past? Documentaries "document" what exists now. Don't make the future.

Can RJ Cutler shift modus operandi? Or will "the past" rule?

A prophet is one who looks into the present and sees the future.

Creating a game ... to simulate the future .... is what this might be.
